- The 2021 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection took place this past weekend.
- While the IceDogs did not have a first round pick due to a recruiting violation, the team held 3 second round picks.
- Left Winger Juan Copeland, goaltender Joseph Costanzo and centerman Declan Waddick were all selected by the IceDogs in the second round.
- Waddick was projected by some to be a late first round pick but the IceDogs were able to use their last pick in the second round to draft him.
- The IceDogs drafted a total of 16 players over the 15 round draft.

OHL announce key dates for 2021-2022 season
- The Ontario Hockey League and the Niagara IceDogs have announced that opening night for the 2021-22 regular season is set for Thursday, October 7.
- Players will report to training camps on Saturday, September 4.
- The OHL will play a conventional 68-game regular season schedule which concludes on Sunday, April 3, 2022.
- The playoffs will get underway on Thursday, April 7 and run through Monday, May 30 at the latest.
- The OHL champion will advance to the 2022 Memorial Cup to be held June 2-12.

OHL holds first ever draft lottery
- With the OHL cancelling their 2020-2021 season, the league decided to implement a draft lottery to determine the order of selection.
- The Niagara IceDogs did not have a first-round pick this year due to a player-recruitment violation but hold double picks in the second and third round.
- After the lottery process, the IceDogs will end up with the third and fourth pick in the second round as well as the sixth and fifteen pick in the third round.
- This year’s draft will be held June 4-5, 2021 live online at ontariohockeyleague.com.

- Normally, the order of selection is based on the standings of the current season, with the lowest ranked teams picking first.
- This year’s draft will be held June 4-5, 2021 live online at ontariohockeyleague.com.
- The draft lottery will take place Wednesday, May 5 at 7:00pm and will be livestreamed on the OHL YouTube channel.
