IceDogs win season opener
- The Niagara IceDogs started the 2021-2022 season the right way, defeating the Barrie Colts 4-1 in Barrie.
- Aidan Castle, Danil Gushchin, Juan Copeland and Pano Fimis all scored for the IceDogs.
- Tucker Tynan was outstanding in net for the IceDogs.
- The IceDogs are back in action on Saturday for their home opener against the Oshawa Generals.
- A limited number of tickets are still available for Saturday’s 7 p.m. game.
Storm defeat IceDogs 2-1
- Saturday night at the Meridian Centre, the Guelph Storm defeated the Niagara IceDogs 2-1 in pre-season action.
- Pano Fimis scored for the IceDogs while Josh Rosenzweig was solid in net.
- The IceDogs are back in action on Friday when they travel to Kitchener to take on the Rangers in another pre-season game.
- It is being reported that IceDogs 2020 import selection Danil Gushchin has been sent to the IceDogs by the San Jose Sharks, who drafted Gushchin in 2020 in the third round.
IceDogs fall to Guelph Storm in pre-season game
- The Guelph Storm scored 4 goals with less than 5 minutes remaining in the third period to defeat the Niagara IceDogs 6-4 Friday night in Guelph.
- Declan Waddick, Rodwin Dionicio, Cameron Snow and Jonah De Simone all scored for the IceDogs.
- Rookie Joseph Costanzo played well for the IceDogs in net.
- The exhibition series continues tomorrow night as the IceDogs take on the Storm at the Meridian Centre at 7 p.m.
IceDogs broadcasts move to FM dial
- The Niagara IceDogs announced today that GiantFM and Country89 are now the team’s exclusive radio broadcast partners.
- The stations will be delivering live coverage of all Niagara IceDogs’ games this season live on GiantFM and Country89.
- Fans can also listen live by downloading the GiantFM or Country89 app or visiting the station websites.
- The new voice of the IceDogs will be Ted Lehman.
- Last season the IceDogs’ games were broadcasted on 610 CKTB.
IceDogs sign Aidan Castle
- After completing a trade on Friday to acquire Aidan Castle, the Oshawa Generals 2020 first-round draft pick, the Niagara IceDogs have announced that they have signed the 17 year-old forward over the weekend.
- Castle played the 2019-20 season with the Greater Toronto Hockey League’s (GTHL) Toronto Jr. Canadiens.
- In 62 games, the Mississauga native collected 35 goals and 35 assists.
IceDogs acquire Aidan Castle in trade with Oshawa
- The Niagara IceDogs completed a trade with the Oshawa Generals for the rights to the Generals’ 2020 OHL Priority Selection first round pick (13th overall), Aidan Castle.
- In exchange, the IceDogs sent their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks in 2022 as well as their 4th round pick in 2024 to Oshawa.
- Castle had not yet signed with the Generals.
- IceDogs’ General Manager Joey Burke said they are still working with the family and agency on having Castle officially commit to Niagara but are confident he will play for the IceDogs this season.
