  • Deficit For Shaw Festival – Shaw Festival finished the 2023 season with a record deficit of $5.7 million. Rising costs, inflation, the ending of government funding and lower than anticipated ticket sales led to the deficit. (Niagara-on-the-Lake Local)
  • City Gets Housing Funding – St. Catharines will receive more than $2.35 million from the province for reaching its housing target. The province is rewarding municipalities that make significant progress against their housing targets by providing funds for housing and community enabling infrastructure. (CKTB)
  • Crystal Beach Shooting – Police are saying that a dispute regarding taking aluminum cans from residential blue boxes resulted in two people being shot Monday morning in Crystal Beach. Police believe the suspect was collecting recyclables and got into an argument with a male who was also collecting recyclables. (St. Catharines Standard)
  • Free River Lions Tickets – Registered charities, local non-profits and youth sport organizations are invited to apply to the Meridian Centre Community Use Program.   • IceDogs Won’t Make Playoffs – The Niagara IceDogs have been eliminated from making the playoffs after loses to Ottawa (7-1) and Peterborough (6-4) this weekend. The IceDogs have failed to make the playoffs for the 4th straight season after making the playoffs for 12 consecutive seasons.
  • Brock Wins Championship – The Brock University Women’s Volleyball team won the OUA Championships after defeating McMaster on Friday. Brock will now play for the National Championships. (Brock University)
  • Falcons Lead Series 2-0 – The St. Catharines Falcons opened the Golden Horseshoe Conference Quarterfinals with a pair of victories of the Pelham Panthers. Game 3 of the best-of-seven series is Tuesday in St. Catharines.

  • Dead Body Found – A civilian-led search party for a missing man forced their way into a Raymond Street house and discovered a dead body. Police did not identify the deceased but the searchers say the body was that of the missing man. (St. Catharines Standard)
  • Apartment Complex Proposed – A 10-unit apartment complex is being proposed for Front Street in Thorold. The developer is promising that the complex will not alter the look of the downtown. (Thorold Today)
  • Bridge Closure – The Carlton Street bridge over the canal will be closed March 11 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. for maintenance. (St. Catharines Standard)
