  • Police are trying to track down a woman who approached a 3 year old boy on Saturday, July 24th at Sunset Beach in St. Catharines. (610 CKTB)
  • Ontario will have different rules for unvaccinated students this coming school year. Fully immunized students and staff would face minimal interruption from work or school if they come in contact with a “high-risk” carrier of the virus while unvaccinated students and staff would have to isolate for at least 10 days.   • The St. Catharines Rotary club will be holding Ribfest this weekend at the Pen Centre. Normally held in Montebello Park in St. Catharines, this year’s event will be a drive-through model. (Thorold News)
  • Canada’s border reopening plans could be hindered as the two unions representing more than 8,500 Canada Border Services Agency employees announced this morning that the majority of their members have given them a strike mandate, with strike action possibly beginning as soon as Aug. 6.   • The St. Catharines Public Library has begun lending out telescopes. The telescopes are user friendly to first-time telescope users and can be borrowed by anyone holding an adult St. Catharines Public Library card. (Niagara this Week)
  • An Oshawa man has turned himself into police following a hit and run accident in Lincoln that resulted in the death of a cyclist. (610 CKTB)
  • Ontario has asked the federal government to work with the WHO to ensure Canadians who received mixed COVID-19 vaccines will be accepted internationally as being fully vaccinated. This comes after several cruise lines have said they won’t accept customers who have received different types of vaccines in addition to some countries not recognizing the Oxford-AstraZeneca shot made at the Serum Institute of India. Seymour-Hannah vaccination clinic accepting walk-in appointments

  • Starting today, Niagara Health’s Seymour-Hannah vaccination clinic is accepting daily walk-in appointments on a first-come, first-served basis for first and second doses between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
  • Residents also continue to have the option to book future date or same day appointments through the provincial booking tool or by calling 1-833-943-3900.
  • The Seymour-Hannah clinic, located at 240 St. Paul St. West in St. Catharines, will wind down in mid-August.
  • A smaller vaccination clinic will be opened at the St. Catharines hospital to continue vaccinating those who still need their first or second dose.

Niagara Health expanding visitor guidelines

  • Today, Niagara Health is expanding visitor and support person presence.
  • Inpatient units can have up to two visitors at a patient’s bedside during visiting hours (11 a.m. to 8 p.m.).
  • All patients can now bring one support person with them for outpatient clinics and appointments.
  • Up to two people at a patient’s bedside at a time are allowed for childbirths.
  • Two parents and/or caregivers can be designated visitors and can visit anytime in the neonatal ICU.
  • Faith community leaders who are registered with Niagara Health can visit 24/7 with all their congregants and/or parishioners who are in the hospital.
