  • The St. Catharines Falcons fell to the Hamilton Kilty B’s 4-2 Wednesday night in Hamilton in game 5 of their Golden Horseshoe Conference Championship. The best-of-seven series now stands at 3-2 in favour of the Falcons with game 6 taking place Friday at 7 PM at the Jack Gatecliff Arena. (BP Sports Niagara)
  • The St. Catharines Jr. A Athletics defeated the Peterborough Lakers 9-5 in their home opener Wednesday night at the Canada Games Park Arena. The game was the first event to take place in the Canada Games Park Arena which is located adjacent to Brock University. The Athletics next home game is Wednesday, May 18 at 8 PM at Canada Games Park Arena.

  • The St. Catharines Falcons defeated the Hamilton Kilty B’s 3-2 in double overtime to take a 3-1 lead in their best-of-seven Golden Horseshoe Conference Championship. Game 5 will be played in Hamilton on Wednesday. Game 6, if necessary, will take place back in St. Catharines at the Jack Gatecliff Arena on Friday, May 13 at 7 PM.

  • Falcons Lose Game 2. The St. Catharines Falcons lost game two of their best-of-seven Golden Horseshoe Conference finals 4-2 against the Hamilton Kilty B’s. The series in now tied at 1-1 with game three Friday in St. Catharines at the Jack Gatecliff Arena at 7:00 PM. (BP Sports Niagara)
  • Niagara IceDogs on NHL Draft List. Five Niagara IceDogs have been named on the NHL Central Scouting final rankings. Pano Fimis (75), Rodwin Dionicio (118), Aidan Castle (151) and Brice Cooke (183) all made the North American list as did Josh Rosenzweig, who was rated the 22nd North American goalie.   • Peach Kings Advance to Championships. The Grimsby Peach Kings have advanced to the Schmaltz Cup, which is the championships for the Provincial Junior Hockey League. The Peach Kings first game is May 7 at 3:00 PM against the Lakeshore Canadiens at the Grimsby Peach King Centre. (Insauga)

  • St. Catharines Falcons Earn Awards. St. Catharines Falcons goaltender Andrew MacLean has won the Russel Masterson Memorial Award as the Golden Horseshoe Conference most valuable player. MacLean, who previous played for the Niagara IceDogs, recorded a 1.45 goals-against average, .943 save percentage and had a league best 10 shutouts. MacLean, along with teammate Josh Johnson, also won the F.G. Tony Bloomfield Award for the lowest team goals-against average in the Golden Horseshoe Conference. (St. Catharines Standard)

  • Niagara IceDogs Draft. On Friday, the Niagara IceDogs drafted defenceman Sam Dickinson with their first round (4th overall) pick in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection followed by forward Kevin He in the second round (25th overall). On Saturday, the draft continued with the IceDogs adding nine more players, including local player Andrew Vermeulen in the fourth round. (Niagara IceDogs)

  • St. Catharines Falcons advance to finals. Luca Testa scored a hat-trick and added a pair of assists as the St. Catharines Falcons defeated the Caledonia Corvairs 9-3 to sweep the best-of-seven GOJHL Golden Horseshoe Conference semifinals. The Falcons will now advance to the Golden Horseshoe Conference championships against either Fort Erie or Hamilton. (BP Sports Niagara)

IceDogs win season opener

  • The Niagara IceDogs started the 2021-2022 season the right way, defeating the Barrie Colts 4-1 in Barrie.
  • Aidan Castle, Danil Gushchin, Juan Copeland and Pano Fimis all scored for the IceDogs.
  • Tucker Tynan was outstanding in net for the IceDogs.
  • The IceDogs are back in action on Saturday for their home opener against the Oshawa Generals.
  • A limited number of tickets are still available for Saturday’s 7 p.m. game.
