  • IceDogs Make More Trades – The Niagara IceDogs made a pair of trades before today’s noon OHL trade deadline. Goaltender Charlie Burns was sent to Erie for a 10th round draft pick and captain Zak Lavoie was traded to Brantford for two third round draft picks and an eight round draft pick. (Niagara IceDogs)

  • IceDogs Trade Crane – The Niagara IceDogs have made a number of trades before tomorrow’s OHL trade deadline. Yesterday, the IceDogs traded 19 year-old Brody Crane to Guelph for a 6th round pick. The IceDogs acquired Crane in November from London in exchange for Christopher O’Flaherty, a third-round pick in 2025, a third-round pick in 2027 and a fourth-round pick in 2026. (Niagara IceDogs)
  • IceDogs Acquire Two 17 Year-Olds – Today, the IceDogs sent overager Daniil Sobolev to Brantford in exchange for a pair of 17 year-olds, defenceman Callum Cheynowski and forward Masen Wray. (Niagara IceDogs)
  • IceDogs Add Potential Goalie – The IceDogs have acquired the playing rights to overage goaltender Anson Thornton in exchange for a conditional 15th round draft pick. Thornton has spent this season in the AHL with the Tucson Roadrunners appearing in four games. His time in the OHL has been spent with the Sarnia Sting and Barrie Colts. (Niagara IceDogs)

  • IceDogs Have Successful Weekend – The Niagara IceDogs took 3 out of 4 points this week, losing to Owen Sound in OT on Friday before defeating Windsor 5-2 on Sunday. The IceDogs remain in last place in the Eastern Conference, 8 points back of the final playoff spot.
  • IceDogs Trade Defenceman – On Sunday, the Niagara IceDogs traded 18 year-old defenceman Bronson Ride to North Bay for goalie Charlie Robertson, two 3rd round picks, two 4th round picks and a 9th round pick. The OHL’s trade deadline is Jan 10. (Niagara IceDogs)
  • Falcons Climb To Second Place – The St. Catharines Falcons defeated Caledonia 3-1 on Friday before losing to Hamilton 4-2 on Saturday. The Falcons are now tied with Fort Erie for second place in the Golden Horseshoe Conference.
  • Panthers Split Weekend – The Pelham Panthers defeated Port Colborne 3-1 on Friday but lost at home on Sunday to Fort Erie 6-2. Pelham sits in sixth place in the Golden Horseshoe Conference, one point behind fifth place Port Colborne.

  • IceDogs End 2023 With Win – The Niagara IceDogs defeated the Guelph Storm 6-5 in OT on New Year’s Eve. Earlier in the week the IceDogs lost to Owen Sound 10-2 and to Erie 6-3. The IceDogs remain in last place in the Eastern Conference, 11 points out of the final playoff spot. The trade deadline is Jan 10 and the IceDogs are expected to make a few moves before the deadline.
  • IceDogs This Week – The IceDogs have a light schedule this week with a pair of home games. The IceDogs host Owen Sound Jan 5 and Windsor Jan 7.
  • GOJHL Back – The GOJHL is back after the Christmas break. The Falcons host Caledonia on Friday before travelling to Hamilton Saturday. The Pelham Panthers travel to Port Colborne on Friday and then will host Fort Erie on Sunday.

  • IceDogs Win Two of Three – The Niagara IceDogs won two of three games this past week, defeating Ottawa 7-5 and Kingston 4-1 before falling to North Bay 3-2. The IceDogs remain in last place in the Eastern Conference, 10 points out of a playoff spot. The team is now off for the Christmas break with their next game on Dec 28 in Owen Sound.
  • Falcons Win A Pair – The St. Catharines Falcons won both of their games last week, defeating Ayr 4-3 and Elmira 4-2. The Falcons have three games this week, including games at home against Hamilton on Tuesday and Pelham on Friday before the Christmas break.

  • Jackfish Sign 10 Year Lease – The Welland Jackfish and the City of Welland have agreed to terms on a new ten-year lease, effective immediately and running through the 2033 season. A number of improvements to Welland Stadium will take place this offseason including improved concessions, a new group patio and a 40 foot merchandise store. (Welland Jackfish)
  • Falcons Lose Pair – The St. Catharines Falcons lost a pair of games on the weekend falling to the Welland Jr. Canadians in OT on Friday before losing to Fort Erie 6-5 on Saturday in Fort Erie. The Falcons remain in third place in the Golden Horseshoe Conference, eight points behind second place Fort Erie.
  • IceDogs Trade Goalie – The Niagara IceDogs traded goalie Marcus Vandenberg to the Sudbury Wolves in exchange for a 2024 3rd round pick and a 2027 3rd round pick. Vandenberg, who was named OHL Goaltender of the Week last Monday, was acquired by the IceDogs from Kitchener in June in exchange for a 2024 2nd round pick, a 2027 5th round pick and defenceman Gabriel Runco.
  • IceDogs Lose Three – The Niagara IceDogs fell to Erie 4-1 on Thursday, lost 8-4 to Sudbury on Friday and were defeated 5-3 on Sunday by Mississauga. Saturday’s game saw the IceDogs get outshot 50-24. The IceDogs are in last place in the OHL and are 9 points out of a playoff spot.

  • IceDogs Win Two In A Row – The Niagara IceDogs had a successful weekend defeating the first place Kitchener Rangers 4-3 in OT on Friday before defeating the Peterborough Petes 2-1 at home on Sunday afternoon. The IceDogs remain in last place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 6-15-4-1 and play at home on Thursday against Erie.
  • Falcons Split Weekend – The St. Catharines Falcons defeated Hamilton 5-4 in OT at home on Friday but then dropped a 5-2 decision in Welland on Sunday. The last place Welland Jr. Canadians had only 4 wins coming into Sunday’s game. The Falcons have a 17-6-0-1 record and are in third place in the Golden Horseshoe Conference.

  • Short Bench Sinks IceDogs – The Niagara IceDogs had a difficult weekend losing all three of their games by a combined score of 19-8. The team had a short bench for all three games including dressing only 14 skaters for Sunday’s game in Saginaw. The IceDogs sit in last place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 4-14-4-1.
  • Falcons Win Light Weekend – The St. Catharines Falcons won their only game of the weekend, defeating Welland 7-0 on Friday at home. The Falcons remain in third place in the Golden Horseshoe Conference, three points back of second place Fort Erie.

  • IceDogs Pick Up Win – The Niagara IceDogs picked up two out of a possible six points on the weekend, defeating Barrie on Thursday before losing to Guelph on Friday and Saginaw on Saturday. The IceDogs currently sit in last in the Eastern Conference with a record of 4-11-4-1.
  • Falcons Sweep Weekend – The St. Catharines Falcons defeated Caledonia 5-3 at home on Friday before shutting out Port Colborne 3-0 on Saturday. The Falcons remain in third place in the Golden Horseshoe Conference.

  • Losing Weekend For IceDogs – The Niagara IceDogs failed to pick up any points over the weekend, losing all three of their games. The IceDogs are in last place in the Eastern Conference and will play at home on Thursday against Barrie and on Saturday against Saginaw. The IceDogs also visit Guelph on Friday.
  • Falcons Split Weekend – The St. Catharines Falcons lost at home on Friday 4-1 to London before defeating Cambridge 3-1 on Saturday in Cambridge. The Falcons are home to Caledonia on Friday then travel to Port Colborne for a game against the Sailors on Saturday. The Falcons sit in third place in the Conference standings.
