Niagara IceDogs announce 2021-2022 season schedule

  • The IceDogs will open the 2021-2022 season on the road against the Barrie Colts on Thursday, October 7th at 7:30 pm.
  • The team’s home opener will be Saturday, October 9th against the Oshawa Generals.
  • The IceDogs will be playing their entire season within the Eastern Conference, with the exception of 6 games against the Erie Otters.
  • More details regarding theme games and specialty jersey nights will be released at a later date.
  • Individual tickets are not yet available for purchase.

Welland Jackfish play Saturday at home

  • The Welland Jackfish have announced an exhibition game versus the Hamilton Cardinals at Welland Stadium on Saturday at 1:05pm.
  • Tickets to the game will be free but a small donation for local charities will be accepted at the door.
  • A maximum of 500 fans will be permitted into the stadium.
  • Tickets are available at wellandjackfish.com or the Welland Stadium Box Office during regular business hours.

River Lions win opener in Ottawa

  • Jaylen Babb-Harrison contributed 30 points off the bench as the Niagara River Lions beat the Ottawa BlackJacks 103-78 in Thursday evening’s CEBL season opener in Ottawa.  
  • The River Lions were hot from the field all night, shooting 47% and dropping 14 three pointers as a team. 
  • The River Lions next action is Tuesday when they travel to Abbotsford, BC to take on the Fraser Valley Bandits. 
  • All CEBL games will be available for live streaming on the CEBL’s new OTT streaming service CEBL+, cbcsports.ca, the free CBC Gem streaming service, the CBC Sports App for iOS and android devices, and on Twitch. 

Single game tickets for Welland Jackfish on sale June 30

  • Single-game tickets for the Jackfish 2021 season will go on sale June 30 at the Welland Stadium box office or through Showpass.
  • The Jackfish are planning on having 25% capacity at Welland Stadium for games this summer which works out to 710 fans.
  • Fans may purchase up to 6 tickets per game for any of the fifteen games.
  • Strict COVID-19 protocols will be implemented, including mask-wearing, social distancing, and more.

River Lions announce final 2021 roster

  • The Niagara River Lions announced today the final 12-man roster for the 2021 Canadian Elite Basketball League season.
  • Trae Bell Haynes, who is currently with the Senior Men’s National Team and Phil Scrubb, who is finishing his season in France, are both expected to eventually be added to the roster.
  • The opening day roster includes four returning players, Guillaume Boucard, Kassius Robertson, Daniel Waldin-Mullings and Emmanuel Owoo-toah. 
  • New players include former Duke Blue Devil Javin DeLaurier.
  • The River Lions start the season in Ottawa tomorrow and all games can be streamed on CEBL+, CBCsports.ca and the CBC Gem App.

Welland Jackfish announce schedule

  • The Welland Jackfish announced an updated schedule for the 2021 Intercounty Baseball League season.
  • The home opener for the Jackfish will take place Thursday, July 8 against the Hamilton Cardinals with the regular-season finale scheduled for Sunday, September 5th in Hamilton.
  • The COVID-19 shortened regular-season schedule will be comprised of 30 games this season.
  • Home games are played at the Welland Stadium and will include six Saturday games and nine Thursday games.
  • 2021 single-game tickets will go on sale on Friday, July 2nd at 9AM with details being released on the Jackfish website.

IceDogs sign 39th overall selection

IceDogs sign first goalie selected in the 2021 Priority Selection

  • The Niagara IceDogs announced today that 2021 OHL Priority Selection 23rd overall pick Joey Costanzo has signed a Standard Player Agreement, committing to the team.
  • The 6’1″ goaltender played the past two seasons with the Greater Toronto Hockey League’s (GTHL) Toronto Marlboros AAA.
  • Costanzo is regarded as one of the top 2005-born goaltenders who were available in the draft.
  • IceDogs GM Joey Burke said that Costanzo has the ability to be a star in the Ontario Hockey League and is a player who is capable of winning a championship in Niagara.
