Welland Jackfish announce 2021 promotional schedule
- The Welland Jackfish announced their 2021 promotional schedule, starting with their home opener on Thursday, July 8th.
- The Jackfish home opener will have a number of promotions, including 12oz Pond Water Lager draft for $3 and a magnet schedule giveaway to the first 200 fans.
- Saturday, July 10th is pie day with $1 pizza slices all game long and $3.14 pieces of pie at the concession stand.
- Other promotions include Happy Gilmore night, bring your pups to the park and two fireworks nights.

River Lions Outscore Rattlers In The Elam Ending
- The Niagara River Lions (2-2) overcame a six-point deficit heading into the Elam Ending to secure a 72-71 victory against the Saskatchewan Rattlers (0-4) on Sunday afternoon at the SaskTel Centre.
- Niagara outscored Saskatchewan 15 to eight in the Elam Ending with guard Kassius Robertson hitting a three-pointer to end the game.
- Xavier Sneed led the way for the River Lions with 17 points.
- Javin DeLaurier recorded the first double-double of his CEBL career with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
- The River Lions return to Niagara and welcome in the first-place Fraser Valley Bandits (4-0) on July 8 at 7:00 p.m. ET at the Meridian Centre.
Fort Erie Race Track to allow spectators
- A limited number of spectators will be allowed to return to the Fort Erie Race Track beginning July 12.
- Each spectator must reserve a spot online through forterieracing.com.
- Everyone’s temperature will be taken as part of the screening process to gain entry to the track and wearing a mask at all times is mandatory.
- Spectators will have access to washrooms and two outdoor BBQ food services; trackside at the Tikki Bar and the Paddock Shack.
- The racing season began on June 15 and the track will continue to offer live racing Monday and Tuesday afternoons until the end of October.
Niagara IceDogs select a pair of players from Import Draft
- On Wednesday morning, the CHL Import Draft was held with the Niagara IceDogs selecting a pair of players.
- The IceDogs used the 18th overall pick to select 17-year-old defenceman Rodwin Dionicio from Switzerland.
- Dionicio has represented the Swiss internationally at the U16, U17 and U18 levels.
- In the second round the IceDogs selected 18-year-old left winger Alex Graham from Sheffield, England.
- Since OHL teams are only permitted two import players, Graham will only play for the IceDogs if 2020 import draft selection Danil Gushchin is not sent back to the IceDogs by the San Jose Sharks, who drafted Gushchin last year.
Niagara River Lions fall to Fraser Valley
- The Fraser Valley Bandits defeated the Niagara River Lions 104-81 in CEBL action Tuesday night at the Abbotsford Centre.
- Xavier Sneed led Niagara in scoring with 35 points, going 11 for 18 from the field and hitting seven of his nine attempted three-pointers.
- Next up for the River Lions is the reigning CEBL Champions, the Edmonton Stingers (1-0) on July 2 at 9:00 p.m. EST. in Edmonton.
