Work on former Ontario Street GM lands continue

  • St. Catharines City Council received an update from the Ministry of the Environment on the former Ontario Street GM lands.
  • The Ministry confirmed that nearby residences are not impacted by contaminants in the storm sewer.
  • As well, there is no increased risk of adverse health to persons living near the property.
  • The Ministry also approved a plan from the landowner to begin work to stop any migration of PCBs into Twelve Mile Creek.
  • City Council approved a motion asking staff to continue to work with the Ministry and the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority to ensure the property is cleaned up.
