St. Catharines receives funding for new trails
- On Thursday the Federal and Provincial governments announced $1.03 million in funding to the City of St. Catharines through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP).
- The ICIP funding will support the construction of 1.5 km of new trails in the city and 1 km of trail upgrades and connectivity investments.
- The funding has also freed up resources allowing the City to invest an additional $1.19 million in further active transportation projects under the 2021 Capital Budget.
- St. Catharines Mayor Walter Sendzik said that these new and improved trails will create new connections for people to access parks and public spaces.
Teams shortlisted for South Niagara hospital project
- Niagara Health in partnership with Infrastructure Ontario have shortlisted three prequalified teams to design, build, finance and maintain the South Niagara hospital project.
- The prequalified teams are EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare (EDIH), Niagara Care Partners and Plenary PCL Niagara Health.
- The shortlisted bidders will be invited to respond to a request for proposals, expected to be issued later this year.
- The successful team is expected to be announced in late 2022.
Theodore TOO tugboat sails into Port Dalhousie
- A 65-foot replica of a beloved children’s TV character, Theodore Tugboat, has made its way into the harbour of Port Dalhousie.
- After a journey that began in Canada’s Maritimes, Theodore TOO – an ambassador for clean-water strategies in Canada and an advocate for careers in the marine industry – is stopping in St. Catharines on it’s way to it’s new home in Hamilton.
- The boat will be docked on the west pier at Dalhousie Yacht Club.
- The public is welcome to come by on Tuesday for visits and photos with 10 people at a time being admitted from 9 am-1 pm, 1-3 pm, and 4-6 pm.
