  • Car Crashes Into Hospital – On Tuesday, a vehicle crashed through a window at the St. Catharines Hospital near the Walker Family Cancer Centre entrance, causing significant damage. The driver did not suffer any serious injuries and no one inside the building was injured. (Niagara Health)
  • New Fire Hall To Cost $7.2 Million – St. Catharines will spend an additional $1.2 million on the new St. Catharines fire station on Linwell Road to allow the building to meet Canada Green Building Council’s zero carbon building standards. The total cost to build the new fire hall is now estimated to be $7.2 million. (St. Catharines Standard)
  • NOTL Investigation – Niagara-on-the-Lake has asked its integrity commissioner and the OPP to investigate an alleged incident where a developer handed town Coun. Gary Burroughs an envelope containing $10,000 in cash. The town is not releasing any other information regarding the investigation. (Niagara this Week)
  • Road Work On St. David’s Road – Major road work has begun on St. David’s Road which includes new water mains and storm sewers and new street lighting. As well, a new trail and sidewalk will also by built. Phase one of the work should be finished by the fall. (CKTB)
  • New Branding For Welland – The City of Welland is adopting a new brand which focuses on the City’s unique geographical and natural amenities and themes of connection, both in a physical sense and from a relational perspective. The branding also includes a new logo for the city. (Giant FM)
  • Market Square Summer Social Returns – The Market Square Summer Social, Pathstone’s open-air, in-person event, returns to St. Catharines Market Square on June 7. The event will feature 18 food and drink experiences, a live DJ and live art creation, super draw, art and photo silent auction, live magic and a special gift for every guest. All funds raised will be designated to Pathstone’s newest site, River House, located in Welland. (Pelham Today)
  • OHL Draft Lottery Tonight – The results of the OHL Priority Selection Draft Lottery will be announced tonight at 6:00pm on OHL LIVE. The Draft Lottery will determine the order of selection for the first four picks of the first round of the 2023 OHL Priority Selection, the 2023 OHL U-18 Priority Selection and the 2023 CHL Import Draft. The Niagara IceDogs finished in last place this season, giving them a 40% chance of getting the first pick. (OHL)
