  • Meeting Date For Queenston Street Development – A public open house about plans for the former St. Catharines General Hospital site on Queenston Street will now be held on Thursday, Apr 6 at 6 p.m. at St. Catharines Collegiate. City staff will make a brief presentation on the proposed development followed by an opportunity for residents to ask questions. The meeting was original scheduled for Feb 23 but was postponed due to a winter storm. (St. Catharines Standard)
  • Opening Of Welland Canal – Port Colborne will celebrate the opening of the Welland Canal with a traditional Top Hat Ceremony on Wednesday. A pancake breakfast will be served beginning at 8 a.m. followed by a brief ceremony with the captain of the first downbound vessel at 8:30 a.m. at Lock 8 Gateway Park. (GiantFM)
  • River Lions On TSN – Sports channel TSN will televise select games of the Canadian Elite Basketball League throughout the 2023 season, including the 2023 CEBL Championship Weekend. TSN will show the CEBL Game of the Week which will include at least 13 games, with TSN+ showing more games. The Niagara River Lions are one of the teams in the CEBL. (Complex)
  • Thrombosis Clinical Trials Underway – Niagara Health’s Thrombosis Service will be conducting clinical trials that will give patients access to some of the newest treatments for preventing deadly blood clots. Some of those trials include the ANTHOS trials, which is investigating promising novel blood thinners that aren’t yet available to patients and doctors elsewhere. (Niagara Health)
  • Pet Food To Be Given Out – Pets Alive Niagara will be hosting its first ever Community Pet Food Day Drive Thru Saturday, Mar 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Russell Avenue Community Centre in St. Catharines. The group will be handing out cat and dog food to those in need. Donations are welcomed. (CKTB)
