  • NDP Leader In Niagara – Ontario NDP leader Marit Stiles will be holding a press conference on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Niagara Falls and will be joined by Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates and Community Outreach Worker Lisa Gillies to call for the reinstatement of health care coverage for uninsured individuals. The public is also invited to attend a party with Stiles Friday evening at the Fleming Memorial Arena in Beamsville. (Giant FM)
  • NOTL Fails To Approve Budget – Niagara-on-the-Lake Council has approved a $9.96 million capital budget during its special meeting on Tuesday but after much debate were unable to approve a $43.9 million operations budget as the time limit on the three-hour meeting ended. Council will need to meet again to discuss the budget, which was expected to be approved during the Tuesday meeting. (Niagara-on-the-Lake Local)
  • Women Injured In Fire – Last night a fire broke out at a home on Doncaster Blvd. in St. Catharines with a woman being taken to hospital in critical condition. Damaged to the home is estimated to be about $300,000. (The River)
  • Crash Closes QEW – A multi-vehicle collision on the QEW in Lincoln closed all Buffalo bound lanes at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, backing up traffic. At least one child and one other person were transported to hospital. (St. Catharines Standard)
  • Skating At Canada Games Park – The City of Thorold will be hosting senior and public skates at Canada Games Park over the month of April. Residents can purchase a single-entry ticket or a pass that is valid through to next year’s skating programs at Frank Doherty Arena. (CKTB)
  • Niagara Gets Second Pick In Draft – The Niagara IceDogs will pick second in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection, the 2023 OHL U-18 Priority Selection and the 2023 CHL Import Draft after the results of the OHL draft lottery were announced Wednesday evening. Niagara will also pick fifth in the first round as compensation for not being able to sign their first round pick last year, Sam Dickinson, who was traded to London. (OHL)
  • New City Allocation Policy – St. Catharines has adopted a new allocation policy for its arenas and recreation facilities. The policy establishes how the city will allocate rentals for existing lease and licences, special events, public programming, schools, tournaments and other requests. (St. Catharines Standard)
