  • Beach Renovation Gets $4.4 Million Grant – The City of St. Catharines Sunset Beach renovation project has been awarded a $4.4 million grant from the province. The first phase of the project will start this fall and will include improvements to the parking lot, reconstruction of the existing boat ramp and shoreline protection efforts. Phase two will include improvements to existing park amenities such as trails and picnic tables and a complete replacement of the playground structure. (City of St. Catharines)
  • Vote For The Worst Road – CAA Niagara is launching its annual Worst Roads campaign and the public has until until April 21st to vote for Niagara’s Worst Roads at caaworstroads.com. (CKTB)
  • Improvements Planned For Parks – The City of St. Catharines will be holding public information meetings over the next several weeks regarding proposed renewal projects for seven parks in St. Catharines. The projects represent more than $2.3 million in improvements and will include upgrades to playgrounds, multi-use courts, and other amenities. (City of St. Catharines)
  • Thorold Community Housing Project Proposed – A Thorold Housing Group is interested in a 4-acre piece of property off St. David’s road east for a 40 to 60 unit community housing complex. The land is currently owned by the city of Thorold and could by leased to the group for the housing project. (The River)
  • New Integrity Commissioner For City – The City of St. Catharines is hiring a new integrity commissioner which has more favourable pricing than the city’s current integrity commissioner. Cost involving the integrity commissioner were only $13,000 in 2022 but were $32,000 in 2021 and $68,000 in 2020. (St. Catharines Standard)
