Work on former Ontario Street GM lands continue

St. Catharines City Council received an update from the Ministry of the Environment on the former Ontario Street GM lands.
The Ministry confirmed that nearby residences are not impacted by contaminants in the storm sewer.
As well, there is no increased risk of adverse health to persons living near the property.
The Ministry also approved a plan from the landowner to begin work to stop any migration of PCBs into Twelve Mile Creek.
City Council approved a motion asking staff to continue to work with the Ministry and the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority to ensure the property is cleaned up.
