Car theft suspect barricades himself in residence

  • On June 9 at approximately 8:55PM Niagara Regional Police responded to a variety store on Pelham Road near Kent Street for a report of stolen car.
  • At 9:30PM the Dodge was located at a housing complex on Rykert Street near Churchill Street by officers.
  • Officers determined that the suspects had entered a unit in the complex.
  • Officers contained the residence and one of the suspects surrendered himself but the second suspect barricaded himself in the residence. 
  • The Emergency Task Unit and Crisis Negotiators were called to the scene and at 1:50AM the second male suspect was arrested.
